What's the best way to build hype for a newer, cleaner Jaguar? Road trip! The clean diesel Jaguar XF will be running from New York City to Los Angeles in a bid to garner more attention for Jaguar's latest eco-friendly offering. The 2.2-liter Jaguar XF took off from New York City on November 7th. It is a right-hand-drive model registered in England and will travel the full 2,800 miles to Los Angeles, and in total the trip should take a week.
It is being piloted by British bros Alexander and David Madgwick, the same team that took the same car 816 miles across Europe on a single tank of diesel. The XF runs on a turbocharged 2.2-liter 4-cylinder diesel enginepaired to a 8-speed automatic transmission. It returns 43.5mpg, or 52.3mpg (imperial) in Europe. The XF has a claimed performance of top speed of 140mph and a 0-60mph dash of 8 seconds. The Jaguar XF should be launched in the U.S. in the next year or so, however this trek will help the British company test the XF's long-distance capabilities. They will be regularly updating their journey on Jaguar's Twitter and Facebook pages.
